Secondary School Career Guidance
Years 7 to 9
During these early secondary years, students are introduced to careers through structured activities aimed at building self-awareness and developing a broader understanding of occupations.
Part-time employment
Some students are also looking for part-time jobs. They can access our dedicated Pathways Coordinator who can assist with where to find work, CV preparation, and interview skills.
The school has developed a range of resources, available to students, which provide relevant and contemporary advice about the job search process.
Years 10 to 12
It is in these senior secondary years that students will start to give serious thought to their career prospects and explore pathways best suited to their strengths and skills.
Career considerations
All senior secondary students attend the Careers and Employment Expo, which brings together a vast array of education and career providers to inspire students and help them with their decision-making.
From Year 10, students start their Senior Education and Training (SET) plan, which is used as a guide to inform the subject selection and identify vocational pathways.
Work experience
All Year 10 students participate in a structured work experience program. Work experience is a great way to sample real work in an industry of their choice. In years 11 and 12 students are encouraged to source work experience during their school holidays if they have a particular career interest.
To broaden their knowledge of careers, the school invites a range of guests to talk to our students about their career pathways. These engaging sessions allow students to interact with industry experts from our region.
