Principal's Message
“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.”Ecclesiastes 3:1
The advent season has just commenced and we are entering a season of waiting in anticipation. The Latin root of the word “advent” means “coming.” For four Sundays before Christmas, we capture both the longing and the hope for the coming of our Saviour. Advent marks the beginning of the church calendar and is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Christ. In the Lutheran church, there are many traditions observed during Advent that help Christians to both prepare for and anticipate His coming. Practices associated with Advent include keeping an Advent calendar, lighting Advent candles, praying an Advent daily devotional, as well as other ways of preparing for Christmas. In the lead up to Christmas, it is easy to get drawn into the frantic gift shopping and stress to get everything right for the festive season. Amidst the business, I hope that you find time to rest and remember the true meaning of Christmas.
The end of the school year is always a very busy time with a flurry of activity; presentation events, Formals, the Graduation Chapel, leadership elections, the Nativity Play, Christmas Concert, Bump Up Day, activity days, and the list goes on. And, amidst the busyness of events, there are assessments, marking and planning for the year ahead.
We are excited about the year ahead. I have heard from many of the Year 6 students about their excitement to have the opportunity to be leaders for another year. They are looking forward to taking part in the rotation subjects and having a completely refurbished learning space, among other things.
We are looking forward to the introduction of the Wellbeing Hub and the Vertical Homegroup system in Secondary School. Staff have already been busy planning for activities to build a stronger House spirit within our College.
As the school year has just concluded, it is also a time for our community members to rest. As we reflect on 2021, we will acknowledge that it was a busy year, full of ups and downs. We will reflect on our ups and consider ways to improve our downs. Most importantly, we will acknowledge the many reasons we have to celebrate the achievements of our students.
I wish all of you a blessed Christmas with your families. Enjoy as you move into the season of rest, laughter, relaxation.
May God’s blessings shine on you this Christmas as you remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus with friends and family.
